Cycling teams 2026: will SD Worx-Protime dominate the spring classics again?
As the 2026 cycling season gets underway, WielerFlits takes a closer look at the top teams from the peloton. In the series Cycling Teams 2026, we introduce these squads based on transfers, rosters, and objectives. Today, it’s SD Worx-Protime’s turn. What can we expect from Lotte Kopecky, Anna van der Breggen, and Lorena Wiebes?
Review of 2025
With 48 victories, SD Worx-Protime looks back on a strong 2025, although the team failed to achieve its main goal: winning the Tour de France with Lotte Kopecky. Just before the Tour, goals were adjusted, after which Wiebes secured two stage wins, still making it a memorable Tour de France.
The team also had great success in the spring classics. Kopecky won the Tour of Flanders, while Wiebes was the standout with victories in Milan-San Remo, Gent-Wevelgem, and Bruges-De Panne. Mischa Bredewold’s triumph in the Amstel Gold Race was also very impressive.
Transfers
It was a relatively quiet winter for SD Worx-Protime. Geerike Schreurs and Skylar Schneider departed, while the team strengthened with Valentina Cavallar and Nienke Vinke. They are expected to make a difference once the team heads into the mountains.
Ambitions
- Fifty wins
- Strong performances in the spring
- Winning the Amstel Gold Race with Lorena Wiebes
- Rank first on the UCI Team Ranking
Our Expectations
Nick Doup (WielerFlits reporter): "It’s good that Lotte Kopecky has shaken off the pressure of the GC. That will allow her to feel much freer in the spring. She might even clash a bit with Lorena Wiebes there, who has a stronger sprint. Kopecky will always have to work for Wiebes."
"I also expect a lot from Mischa Bredewold, Femke Gerritse, and Julia Kopecký this spring, with Bredewold, as a team leader, definitely standing alongside Wiebes and Kopecky in my view. Gerritse and Kopecký will be making big strides in the shadows of the leaders and may already play a role in major classics."
"Nienke Vinke is also one to watch. I’m curious to see what progress she can make as a GC rider, with help from Anna van der Breggen. My bold prediction is that Lorena Wiebes will finish top-10 in one of the Grand Tours."
