Derek Gee-West receives new Canadian champion jersey from Lidl-Trek

The transfer of Derek Gee-West to Lidl-Trek caused a stir, but those stories were soon overshadowed by criticism of the Canadian champion's jersey. The white shirt with the small, red 'maple leaf' failed to receive positive feedback, prompting Lidl-Trek to take action.

Soon after announcing Gee-West's transfer, Lidl-Trek revealed they would work on a new kit for the GC contender. Originally, the plan was for the Canadian champion to debut at the Tour of Catalonia in March, but due to Giulio Ciccone’s illness, Gee-West already has a spot in the UAE Tour squad.

There, he will race in the new champion’s jersey. The base remains white, but the characteristic Canadian maple leaf is much larger and more prominent on the torso. Additionally, the sleeves are now entirely red, making Canada’s red and white colors even more visible in the peloton.
