Florian Lipowitz's season is over. The German had originally planned to ride the Tour of Lombardy, but has since decided to skip the race. The third-place finisher at the Tour de France needs some rest.
"It has been a tough year," writes Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe on the team website about Lipowitz’s season. "A long and complete rest period is not only deserved but also necessary – and importantly, for long-term development, more valuable than extending the season until the end of October. Florian Lipowitz has therefore decided to skip Il Lombardia and has already begun his recovery phase."
Lipowitz closes out 2025 with 52 race days logged. Among others, he rode Paris-Nice (second), the Tour of the Basque Country (fourth), the Critérium du Dauphiné (third) and the Tour de France (third). Afterwards, he also took part in the Tour of Germany and the WorldTour one-day races in Canada, but was no longer able to make a significant impact.
Relief
Lipowitz himself is glad that his off-season has already started. “Honestly, it’s a relief,” he says. “Right after the races in Canada, I decided to start the off-season three weeks earlier. Now I can finally do all the things there was never time for during the year. And it feels great to completely clear my head. During the season, everything is scheduled – races, training, recovery. There’s hardly any room to truly switch off. Now I have time to ride aimlessly, or not at all. This mental rest is just as important as physical recovery.”
