Israel Premier Tech responds to the call from main sponsor Premier Tech and its bike manufacturer Factor: the team will continue under a new name and will distance itself from its Israeli identity. Furthermore, team owner Sylvan Adams is taking a significant step back.
Premier Tech, the principal sponsor of the cycling team, had previously demanded that the team change its name and omit the term Israel. Additionally, the team must adopt a new identity and branding, the Canadian company stated in a published declaration. Bike manufacturer Factor had earlier increased pressure to sever ties with Israel.
Given the current developments in Gaza and the fact that Israel Premier Tech was targeted in recent weeks by several large-scale pro-Palestinian demonstrations during various races – including the Vuelta a España and the Canadian WorldTour classics in Québec and Montréal – the pressure to break with Israel only intensified.
Ultimately, the team has decided to heed its sponsors' call and distances itself from the Israeli identity. "With unwavering commitment to our riders, staff members, and partners, it has been decided to give the team a new name and image," read a press statement. "This means disassociating from the current Israeli identity. In sport, progress often requires sacrifices, and this step is essential to secure the future of the team."
New role for Adams
Sylvan Adams, the pro-Israel billionaire who founded the project eleven years ago, is taking a step back. "Looking ahead to the 2026 season, Sylvan has chosen to reduce his involvement. He will no longer be involved with the team on a daily basis nor speak on behalf of the team. Instead, he will focus on his role as chairman of the World Jewish Congress in Israel."

The team has yet to reveal its new name and identity, but emphasizes that it remains true to its original mission. "Although a new chapter awaits, to be unveiled soon, we remain faithful to our promise: developing cycling talent from around the world. To our fans: thank you for your unwavering support over the years and especially in recent weeks. We look forward to continuing this journey together."
