Jakobsen, Ghys, Hoole and Hayter crash hard in UAE Tour

Fabio Jakobsen will not be contesting the sprint in the fourth stage of the UAE Tour. The Dutch rider crashed hard with just under thirty kilometers to go, along with Ethan Hayter, Robbe Ghys, and Daan Hoole. Fortunately, most of the riders were able to continue, although Ghys did get into the ambulance.

The riders were preparing for a bunch sprint in the fourth stage, but the peloton was shaken up by a crash before the sprint. The four involved riders were Fabio Jakobsen, Robbe Ghys, Daan Hoole, and Ethan Hayter. Hoole was the first to get back on his bike and leave, followed by Jakobsen and Hayter, although the Dutchman and Briton were visibly battered.

For Ghys, it was no longer possible to get back on his bike. The Belgian from Decathlon CMA CGM stayed on the ground for a long time and then got into the ambulance with a suspected clavicle fracture, heading to the hospital.

Not long after, Jakobsen was seen back on the bike. The sprinter from Picnic PostNL appeared to be mainly scraped on the right side of his body at first glance.

After a clear curse, he briefly explained his situation to the man on the motorcycle. "I ran over something and my front tire blew out. I immediately hit the ground, but I'll make it home," he said.
