Mads Pedersen has been named Danish Cyclist of the Year 2025. The Danish Cycling Federation, which organized the award ceremony on Sunday evening in Ballerup, chose the classics specialist from Lidl-Trek over Jonas Vingegaard. For the women, the award went to Amalie Dideriksen.
Pedersen had a very successful season. The now 30-year-old rider won a total of fourteen times. He started winning already in February when he took the second stage and the overall classification of the Tour de la Provence. Later in the spring, he also claimed a stage win in Paris-Nice, his third victory in Gent-Wevelgem, and numerous podium finishes: seventh in Milan-San Remo, second in the E3 Saxo Classic, fifth in Dwars door Vlaanderen, second in the Tour of Flanders, and third in Paris-Roubaix.
Pedersen didn’t rest long after this busy classics campaign, as he was already racing in the Giro d'Italia in May. He was in great form there as well. In fact, he secured four stage wins and took home the purple points jersey.
After claiming the national time trial championship (win), the road race championship (second place), and three stage wins plus the overall victory in the Tour of Denmark, Pedersen then prepared for the Vuelta a España. There, it took him a while to get a stage win, but on stage fifteen he finally hit the mark. Thanks to numerous podium finishes, he won the points classification there as well, just like in the Giro.

Vuelta winner Vingegaard
The overall victory at the Vuelta a España went to another Dane: Jonas Vingegaard, who also won three stages in the Spanish Grand Tour. The climber from Visma | Lease a Bike had, earlier in the summer, finished second in both the Tour de France and the Critérium du Dauphiné, while in the spring, he took a stage and the overall title at the Volta ao Algarve. However, this was not enough to keep Pedersen from claiming the Danish Cyclist of the Year title.
The title of Danish Female Cyclist of the Year went to Amalie Dideriksen. The 29-year-old rider from Cofidis secured one victory in 2025: she won the opening stage of the Tour of Portugal in July. Additionally, she finished third in Dwars door de Westhoek, a stage in the Simac Ladies Tour, and a stage at the UAE Tour Women.
