Alpecin-Deceuninck is set to strengthen its roster for the upcoming seasons with Tim Marsman, multiple sources confided to WielerFlits. The 24-year-old rider has been one of the top Dutch talents in the Continental circuit for years and will get his chance at the WorldTour level starting next year. Marsman is transferring from VolkerWessels.
Between 2019 and 2024, the all-rounder from Overijssel rode for Metec-Solarwatt. There, he was one of the stronger riders for years and often came close to securing a professional contract. He developed into a rider capable on almost all terrains. Only in high mountain stages does the 1.91-meter-tall cyclist rarely feature among the front runners. Since Marsman will turn 25 at the end of this year, he switched last winter to VolkerWessels. He wanted to try elsewhere to see if making the leap to the pros there would succeed, although it’s unclear whether it worked out now because of that.

Earlier this year, Marsman won the opening time trial in Olympia’s Tour, in which he ultimately finished fourth in the general classification. He also placed fifteenth in the Volta NXT Classic and second in the Tour du Loir et Cher (where he narrowly missed the stage win twice). By the way, Marsman already won that French race in 2023. In 2022, he also claimed victory in a stage of the internationally well-regarded Tour de Bretagne. He often contends for top spots in national classics as well.
For now, Marsman is the fifth Dutch rider signed by Alpecin-Deceuninck for 2026. Tibor Del Grosso, Senna Remijn, Oscar Riesebeek, and of course Mathieu van der Poel were already known. Lars Boven may also join them; he has just finished two seasons with the Belgian team and has a contract nearing its end. Exactly what role Marsman will have is still unclear. However, a large part of the spring classics squad at Alpecin-Deceuninck has been scooped up by other teams, so there’s room in that segment of the team.
