Relief for Tom Pidcock after first win of the season: "Was really frustrated"
Tom Pidcock has secured his first victory of 2026. The leader of Pinarello-Q36.5 won the final stage of the Ruta del Sol by dropping everyone else on the last climb of the day. Behind his blistering attack, there was some frustration, he revealed afterward.
"It feels amazing, because yesterday I was really frustrated," Pidcock said in the flash interview. "We trained so hard this winter. We were fully committed, we went to Chile for a training camp and put in so much work. But in this Ruta del Sol, we missed opportunities."

"We made a mistake by misjudging the route, because this course wasn’t perfect," said the Brit, who was presented with few chances to make a difference in the Ruta del Sol stages. "On the second day, we already lost the general classification."
"I got frustrated that we were missing chances, but today we seized ours. The team was fantastic and I finished it off. That makes it all worthwhile. Now that I have one win under my belt, the pressure is a bit off. That’s a really nice feeling."
