Skier who jumped over Tadej Pogačar wins bronze at Winter Olympics
Do you remember when two skiers jumped over pink jersey holder Tadej Pogacar during the 2024 Giro d'Italia? One of them, Flora Tabanelli, has now won a bronze medal at the Winter Olympics.
The striking moment occurred during the fifteenth stage of last year's Giro d'Italia. While Pogacar was once again on his impressive solo to Livigno, two skiers jumped over him. This wasn’t visible on the television broadcast, but former pro and photographer Leon van Bon captured the moment. It produced a stunning photo.
One of those skiers was Flora Tabanelli. The now 18-year-old Italian, a professional freestyle skier, made her Olympic debut this year. She immediately took bronze in the Big Air event. The gold went to Megan Oldham (Canada), who beat defending champion Eileen Gu (China).
