Benoît Cosnefroy is making the move to UAE Emirates-XRG. The Frenchman is transferring from Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale and has signed a contract through 2027 with the team from the United Arab Emirates.
There had already been rumors that Tadej Pogacar’s team was interested in the French rider’s services, but now Cosnefroy has officially been secured. The team primarily plans to deploy him in the classics. "The Frenchman has a strong punch on uphill terrain and will strengthen our lineup in the one-day races," reads the announcement from UAE Emirates-XRG.
Cosnefroy has ridden for Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale since the start of his professional career in 2017, but after eight years, he feels it’s time to explore new horizons. "I’m very happy to join UAE Emirates-XRG and be part of the best team in the world. When Mauro Gianetti explained the project to me, I saw that this was the right challenge for this phase of my career," said Cosnefroy on the team’s website.
The 30-year-old rider is known as an excellent puncheur. His most notable victories include the GP de Québec in 2022, the Bretagne Classic in 2021, and the Brabantse Pijl in 2024. This year, he took the win at the GP du Morbihan, but hasn’t raced since June due to a crash in the Tour de Suisse.
