Acute funding shortage forces The Cyclists’ Alliance to start crowdfunding
The cyclists’ union The Cyclists' Alliance (TCA) has launched a crowdfunding campaign ahead of International Women’s Day (March 8). The reason? The organization is facing an acute funding shortage and is calling on supporters to donate via a GoFundMe campaign.
The Cyclists’ Alliance has played a key role for nearly ten years in strengthening the foundations of professional women’s cycling. The organization is committed to fair working conditions, rider welfare, and creating (equal) opportunities for future generations.
Thanks to support from sponsors such as Strava, BBB, Zwift, Cannondale, Trek, Rapha Foundation, Liv, and SRAM, The Cyclists’ Alliance has been able to consistently and independently support professional women’s cycling.
"Otherwise, we will be forced to cease our activities"
"TCA is working hard to find long-term partners, but that takes time. Without immediate financial support, The Cyclists’ Alliance will be forced to stop its activities," the statement reads. "If The Cyclists’ Alliance disappears, there will be no independent safety net nor a united, rider-led voice to protect the professional pathway in women’s cycling."
The organization therefore calls on supporters to donate via the GoFundMe campaign and to widely share the appeal within the cycling community. "We are also actively seeking new sponsors. Those who believe in the future of women’s cycling – not just its growth, but also its long-term sustainability – are encouraged to take action now."
