All for De Ronde: Mathieu van der Poel is already on the plane to Spain
About two hours ago, Mathieu van der Poel crossed the finish line in Wevelgem after an exciting In Flanders Fields. He watched his teammate Jasper Philipsen sprint to victory, but there’s little time to enjoy his teammate’s win. The Dutchman is already on a plane to Spain.
On his Instagram, you can see Van der Poel walking toward his private jet. "Final preparations in Spain for the holy cycling week. Thanks to Flyinggroup Aero for the support," the Alpecin-Premier Tech leader also shared.
Van der Poel announced last year in an Instagram post that he became an ambassador for Flyinggroup Aero, a company specializing in private jet management. The 31-year-old rider sometimes uses a private plane during the cycling season to arrive at races in optimal conditions.

After the finish of In Flanders Fields, Van der Poel already indicated that he would spend the coming week in Spain logging training kilometers, preparing under better weather conditions for the Tour of Flanders and, a week later, Paris-Roubaix.
"I felt good, but not great. I’m heading to Spain now to train hard for a week ahead of the Tour of Flanders, but it won’t be easy with Tadej (Pogacar, ed.) at the start," he said afterward to NOS.
