For Amanda Spratt, 2026 will be her final year as a professional cyclist. The now 38-year-old Australian has announced her retirement from the sport, but will still race one more season for Lidl-Trek.
With Spratt retiring, one of the most successful climbers of the past fifteen years will step away. The Australian wasn’t exactly a prolific winner—with 21 pro victories currently on her palmarès—but Spratt consistently competed for sporting honors in nearly all the big races.
From Giro podiums to World Championship medals
She won the Tour Down Under three times, Emakumeen Bira once, claimed World Championship medals in Harrogate (bronze) and Innsbruck (silver), stood on the podium of major classics like Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Trofeo Alfredo Binda, and finished third overall twice in the Giro d'Italia.
"As a defining figure in modern women's road cycling, Spratt has been a constant presence in the Women's WorldTour and a cornerstone of Australia's success on the international stage," Lidl-Trek praises. "She has earned respect in the peloton as one of the most reliable GC contenders of her generation."

Despite her advanced cycling age, Spratt caught the spotlight several times last year, but feels it is almost time to turn the page. "I’m still motivated and training hard for the new season. I don’t want my career to end abruptly. I still love what I do, so I want to finish on a good note," she shared through her team.

"Deciding for myself where my finish line lies"
"Honestly, there wasn’t a specific moment when I thought: I don’t want to continue anymore, because the opposite is true. I still love racing and training immensely. I love the process of working towards a goal and actually achieving it. I enjoy racing with my teammates and being around them."
"But I have been a professional for more than twenty years now—and that also abroad—and I appreciate being able to stop on my own terms and decide for myself where my finish line lies. The reason I want to announce this now is that it will be very special to share my last season with so many people who have supported me both close by and from afar."
