The Bull of Lescheret has completely taken off at the end of the season. On Saturday, Arnaud De Lie also won the Super 8 Classic, just a few days after his victory in the GP de Wallonie. With a big smile, De Lie then spoke to the press. "We'll see how long the legs keep holding up."
De Lie once again threw everything he had on Saturday, but still had enough left at the finish to outwit Matthew Brennan and Jordi Meeus. About that he says: "The last meters were very tactical, with an attack from Kwiatkowski. I was in the wheel of a Tudor rider and saw Jordi go on the right, so I decided to follow."
That proved to be the right choice, as De Lie managed to squeeze his wheel just ahead of the charging Brennan at the line. "I went crazy, but was almost certain I had won. Brennan’s last meters were very fast, but the gap I had was enough. The condition is super good."
"Hopefully the legs stay good for a long time, we'll see. Today I was definitely still at the top. For me, the season is still long, with Paris-Chauny, Sparkassen Münsterland Giro, Paris-Tours, and the Tour of Holland. It's already very special that this week I was able to do two races that suit me, and for the rest of the season, I still have a lot of ambition."
