UCI seeks talks with all parties to advance cycling development

The international cycling federation UCI is launching a broad consultation with all stakeholders in both men’s and women’s cycling. The aim is to develop an organizational model to create "more stability, growth, and greater appeal," according to a press release.

The UCI has sent a letter to the main organizations within the cycling world: the riders’ union CPA, the AIGCP (association of professional teams), and the AIOCC (association of race organizers). The federation also invites all other involved parties—riders, organizers, representatives, and owners of UCI teams as well as national cycling federations—to contribute individually to this discussion.

Stakeholders are invited to submit their opinions and proposals on key topics—including the economic model, race calendar and participation rules, fan engagement, safety, and the credibility of cycling—before April 30, 2026.

Potential
This UCI initiative is part of a broader reflection on the evolution of cycling. "The goal now is to continue this positive momentum together, in a spirit of dialogue and shared responsibility, under the auspices of the UCI," the cycling federation states in a press release.

At the end of the consultation phase, the UCI will hold in-depth discussions with the various stakeholders and partners, aiming to "develop a stronger, more attractive, and sustainable model for professional road cycling for men and women."

UCI President David Lappartient adds: "Our sport still has significant potential for further development. The goal is to bring stakeholders in road cycling together, to collectively reflect on the sport’s evolution. Only together can we take our sport to the next level: for more stability, more growth, and greater appeal."
