Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado will not start the opening of the cyclocross season in Belgium on Saturday. Her team announced bad news on Friday about the Dutch former world champion: knee problems are currently keeping her out of cyclocross.
"The Belgian cyclocross season starts on Saturday in Meulebeke," writes Fenix-Deceuninck. "Unfortunately, that will be without Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado. Ceylin is still recovering from persistent knee issues, which means she will have to postpone the start of her cyclocross season. We wish her a speedy recovery."
It is not yet known when Alvarado will make her comeback. This year, the 27-year-old rider still had an extensive road program, including races such as the Vuelta and the Tour of Switzerland.
