Demi Vollering cheers for teammates: "Chabbey and Koch didn’t need my instructions"
A flat tire proved disastrous for Demi Vollering’s chances. Still, her team celebrated, thanks to Elise Chabbey, who capped off a strong team performance in an incredible way.
“I’m so proud of them. They (Chabbey and Koch, ed.) executed everything perfectly, even though I got a flat at the worst possible moment,” she explains why she couldn’t follow when the decisive move was made.
“I thought: don’t give up, I can still come back. But then they misdirected us. Everyone immediately knew it was over. A shame for me, but I got really excited from the messages in my earpiece.”
“I really felt like: come on, girls. I even tried to tell them something, but I guess they didn’t need my instructions. I still have to see it, but I think they did an amazing job. It’s awesome to see what Amber Kraak and Lea Curinier did. They literally rode at the front the whole time, they were flying,” Vollering continues in the interview with Eurosport.
“Tonight we’re going to Pisa; tomorrow we have a very early flight to Tenerife for a training camp. Well, maybe we’ll party all night,” Vollering concludes with a laugh.
