Dylan Groenewegen beams after win in Bredene Koksijde Classic: "I was simply the fastest"

Dylan Groenewegen secured an impressive victory on Friday at the Bredene Koksijde Classic, and afterward, the Dutchman was clearly thrilled. In the flash interview after the race, he said with characteristic confidence: "I was the fastest today."

Groenewegen was the favorite in the 1.Pro race on Friday and rode a smart race, during which his team Unibet Rose Rockets managed to keep the Dutch sprinter constantly at the front when it got tense in the Moeren. "It was a very fast finale," reflects the Dutch rider on the race. "In the sprint, everyone was stressed and tired, but the communication with my team was good."

"Eventually, we found the right moment and the right chance to launch our train. We know the corners here well, and I remembered from a few years ago that I attacked at 300 meters from the finish, but then got beaten by Mozzato. That’s why this time I went at 200 meters, and that was enough."

"You always feel like they’re coming from behind when you sprint in front, but today I was the fastest in a fair sprint," he concludes.
