Egan Bernal and INEOS Grenadiers near agreement on new multi-year deal
Egan Bernal's contract with INEOS Grenadiers expires at the end of this year, but according to cycling journalist Daniel Benson, it's only a matter of time before the Colombian champion signs a new multi-year deal.
Bernal is reportedly about to sign a contract extension for no less than four seasons with the British team. This would mean that the Tour and Giro winner will race for INEOS Grenadiers until at least the age of 33.
"Although we cannot yet confirm that the deal has been signed, all signs point to it being only a matter of time before INEOS Grenadiers makes an announcement," Benson reports.
"Teams interested in the 29-year-old rider have very little time left to act. As far as we know, the negotiations are already at an advanced stage."
There is currently no clarity on Bernal’s racing schedule for 2026, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 28-year-old climber will again be deployed as a GC contender in the Giro d’Italia this year. Bernal is expected to share the leadership with Dutch rider Thymen Arensman.
