Federica Venturelli delivers UAE Team ADQ victory in Clásica de Almería

Federica Venturelli has claimed victory at the Clásica de Almería (1.Pro). The Italian rider from UAE Team ADQ was the strongest in the finale of a small peloton.

What kind of course did the riders face?
The 119-kilometer route of the Clásica de Almería was not extremely challenging. The Alto del Turillas (3.1 km at 5%) was the toughest obstacle halfway through the race. The finish stretch into Almería wasn’t flat either, as it climbed gradually for several kilometers—a slight incline suited for strong sprinters.

How did the first part of the race unfold?
A relatively large breakaway group formed early on. Seven riders, including Dutchwoman Nina Kessler (NEXETIS), joined forces. They gained more than four minutes’ advantage, but during the demanding middle section, several riders managed to bridge across. First, Paul Blasi (UAE Team ADQ) and Talia Appleton (Liv AlUla Jayco) made the move, followed by a group of riders. Around twenty riders entered the finale together.

What happened in the finale?
With thirty kilometers to go, Agua Marina Espínola (Team Abadie Magnan) launched a solo attack. The Paraguayan rider held on for a long time and seemed on course for a sensational surprise but was caught again in the final kilometers. From the small peloton, Federica Venturelli then proved to be the strongest.
