French revelation from Paris-Nice extends with Tudor until 2030

Mathys Rondel impressed among the climber types last week in Paris-Nice. The 22-year-old Frenchman decided the race with a strong eighth place and is now being rewarded for that by his Swiss team Tudor.

The young Rondel was allowed to extend his contract with Tudor by four years. Rondel – a former speed skater – joined the development team in 2023, stepped up to Fabian Cancellara’s main squad in mid-2024, and will now stay at least until 2030. According to the ProTeam, this agreement "reflects a deep mutual trust and a shared vision for long-term success."

Rondel is no stranger to competing for general classifications. Last year, he already finished ninth in the Tour de Romandie and fifteenth in the Critérium du Dauphiné. In Paris-Nice, he seemed to have taken another step forward.

“It is a long-term contract, and that’s how I view my development: as a process that requires time, trust, and the right environment. I feel that Tudor Pro Cycling is the best place for me to continue making progress and take the next steps as a climber and GC contender,” Rondel said in a team press release.

According to Tudor CEO Raphael Mayer, Paris-Nice is the best proof that they are making the right move. "The fact that he finished in the top 10 in a WorldTour stage race last season and is performing at a high level this year makes us proud and demonstrates the strength of our talent development strategy. Securing Mathys until 2030 clearly shows our long-term vision with him.”
