Thibau Nys has successfully completed his training week in Spain. After the Belgian championship in Beringen, where the young Nys extended his title, he had to perform crucial work in preparation for the Cyclocross World Championships and the spring season.
"The most important thing is that I don’t want to slack off. I want to finish the winter at the highest possible level," Nys said a week ago after that decisive national championship. After achieving a close podium place in Benidorm, it seems Nys is doing well.
"I trained a lot last week and I’m going to try to do quite a bit on Monday and Tuesday as well. After that, it’s done," Nys told our camera. "I feel that since the Christmas period, I have finally been able to put in a lot of work again, that I respond quite well to it, and my recovery is good again. I definitely feel pretty okay again."
But whether everything will fall perfectly into place towards his goals in spring is another story. "It’s a very difficult puzzle, but there’s still a long way to go. There will be rest in between. Drawing conclusions now is hard to say, it’s different than with Mathieu (van der Poel, ed.)."
