Intermarché appears set to become one of the title sponsors of the new merged team between Intermarché-Wanty and Lotto. On the provisional license list released by the UCI on October 20, the supermarket chain was not mentioned in the team's name. According to HLN, however, an agreement has now been reached.
Intermarché-Wanty was, as expected, missing from the provisional UCI list of WorldTour license applications for the upcoming season. Lotto did submit the required documents on time, and it was to be a joint application by the two Belgian teams under the name Lotto Cycling Team. The absence of the name 'Intermarché' raised questions about the sponsorship of the merged team.
According to HLN, Intermarché will indeed be included in the team name for the license application deadline on November 1. The supermarket chain is said to have reached an agreement this week with the management of the merged team.
