Isaac Del Toro can now call himself the new Mexican time trial champion. The 21-year-old breakthrough star of UAE Emirates XRG comfortably outpaced his rivals in his home country, earning the right to wear the red, white, and green jersey next year.
There were only nine competitors in the pro category at the start of the short 16-kilometer stage around Ensenada, Del Toro’s hometown. The course did climb steeply towards the finish.
Del Toro finished more than a minute ahead of the rest. With this, he officially secures the first UCI victory of 2026. After October 19, the UCI had already officially closed the 2025 road season.
On Saturday, Del Toro, who previously described it as a dream to compete in the national championships in his home country, can also secure the national champion’s jersey in the road race. Last year, the national championships in Mexico were not recognized by the UCI.
