Finlay Pickering will race for Jayco AlUla for the next two seasons. The 22-year-old Brit, who joins from Bahrain Victorious, has signed a two-year contract with the Australian team.
Pickering impressed as a promising talent with, among other achievements, a stage win and the overall victory in the Tour Alsace (2022). Over the past two seasons, he competed at the WorldTour level for Bahrain Victorious. His main accomplishments last year included winning the mountains classification in the Tour of the Alps and a thirteenth place in the overall standings of the Tour de Suisse. Pickering also rode his first Grand Tour at the Vuelta a España, finishing 29th overall and placing tenth on the final mountain stage to Bola del Mundo—achieved not from the breakaway.
"We have been following Finlay’s development as a rider for some time, and it’s fantastic that he will join the team next season," says Gene Bates, sporting director at Jayco AlUla. "In his two years at the WorldTour level, he has already shown himself to be a promising climber. His performances in the Tour of the Alps showcased his high-mountain qualities, and we believe he will fit well within our group of climbers, where he can provide valuable support to the team leaders and continue to develop himself.”
