Jonas Vingegaard stays calm after losing time in Paris-Nice team time trial

Visma | Lease a Bike started as the top favorite for the team time trial in Paris-Nice but couldn’t live up to that status. The Dutch team finished fourth, fifteen seconds behind the winners INEOS Grenadiers. “Of course, we had hoped for more, but this is how it is,” says team leader Jonas Vingegaard on the team site.

“It may not have been our best day as a team, but nevertheless, we rode a strong time. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for the victory,” says the Dane, who is currently seventh in the overall standings. He is seventeen seconds behind GC leader Juan Ayuso. “We would have preferred a lead, but the gaps are not huge.”

“We have a strong team and in the coming days, we will do everything to reclaim some time. I feel good, so I’m looking forward to the fight ahead.”

Marc Reef: “We gave it our all”
Marc Reef, the team director for Visma | Lease a Bike, is satisfied with his riders’ performance. “As a team, we gave it our all to win the time trial. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. In the end, there were three teams better than us. That’s the honest story. Tomorrow marks the start of the next phase of Paris-Nice with a tough uphill finish.”
