Juan Ayuso is back training just a week after serious crash in Paris-Nice

Initially, things didn’t look good for Juan Ayuso after his crash in Paris-Nice, but Lidl-Trek quickly confirmed that the Spaniard did not sustain any serious injuries from the accident. It has now been almost a week, and the stage race rider is already back to training.

The new team leader for Lidl-Trek got back on the bike Monday—after a few days of rest—for his first training ride since his heavy fall in the rain-soaked fourth stage of Paris-Nice. “He is gradually resuming training to test himself and his form,” writes the Spanish sports newspaper AS.

Ayuso was leading Paris-Nice after three stages, but couldn’t continue after his crash. He was forced to withdraw and was very disappointed. “Fortunately, X-rays at the hospital in France showed no fractures for Ayuso,” his team had reassuringly announced last week.

Tour of the Basque Country
The 23-year-old rider—who already claimed victory at the Volta ao Algarve this season—can now prepare for his next race: the Tour of the Basque Country. This prestigious stage race starts in just over three weeks, on Monday, April 6.

After the Tour of the Basque Country, Ayuso will tackle the Amstel Gold Race and Liège-Bastogne-Liège, before setting his sights on the summer months and his main goal of 2026, the Tour de France.
