Lorenzo Milesi (9th) rides entire Giro time trial with an ice vest: "Forgot to take it off"
A striking image during the time trial in the Giro d'Italia: outsider Lorenzo Milesi wore... an ice vest. The Italian from Movistar, who despite the extra weight still finished ninth in the time trial, forgot to take off the vest after his warm-up. He shared this with Cycling Pro Net among others after the race.
"I forgot to take off the ice vest," Milesi laughed. "I realized it right after I started, but then I couldn’t take it off anymore. It was too late. I told myself: I just have to ride at the same pace now, it doesn’t matter anymore. I just had to see how it would go."

In the end, Milesi finished ninth, two minutes and forty seconds behind his winning countryman Filippo Ganna. “It definitely could have gone better if I had taken off the vest, but I’ve learned a lesson again. We will aim for a better result in the upcoming stages.”
