A week after her withdrawal from the World Cup in Flamanville, Lucinda Brand was back in action for the round in Terralba, Italy. However, she was unable to reclaim her lead in the standings.
By winning the races in Tábor and Terralba, Brand currently has a total of 80 points. Only Aniek van Alphen raced in all three rounds. Her fifth, first, and second place finishes have earned her 91 points so far.
It is unknown if Van Alphen will take any breaks going forward. The fact is that Brand will now give everything for the World Cup. Her coach Eric Braes told us last week: "It's a matter of weighing the options on which events to skip, and we make the best choice for each rider. Lucinda decided to skip Flamanville so she can now race everything." And everything means nine more rounds.
Incidentally, Shirin van Anrooij is also making a giant leap, thanks to her first podium in two years. That will only improve her starting position.
