Mathieu van der Poel is just under two weeks into his cyclocross season but has already notched five victories. This places him sixth in the wins ranking. Ahead of him are only riders who have won less competitive cyclocross races.
In the elite men’s wins ranking, the top spots are not held by the absolute top riders, but by Brit Thomas Mein and Americans Andrew Strohmeyer and Eric Brunner. They lead the standings with seven wins each. However, none of them have yet managed to win outside their home countries this winter.
Van der Poel shares sixth place as the highest-ranked of the well-known names. He has already surpassed Michael Vanthourenhout and Thibau Nys (both with four wins) thanks to his victory in Gavere. Next week, the Dutchman could grab the top position as he races in Loenhout (December 29), Baal (January 1), Mol (January 2), and Zonhoven (January 4), and no one would be surprised if he wins all four cyclocross races.

Among the women, Lucinda Brand currently stands head and shoulders above the rest. This is also reflected in the wins ranking. The Baloise Glowi Lions rider has already tallied fourteen victories. From last Saturday (Antwerp) through this past Friday (Gavere), she won no fewer than four cyclocross races.
