Matthew Brennan, with no fewer than twelve victories – and that in his first professional year – was the revelation of 2025. The 20-year-old British cycling sensation hopes to continue this upward trajectory. With several major classics and a first participation in a Grand Tour (Vuelta a España), 2026 promises to be a very interesting year for Brennan.
"It has been a very successful year," Brennan reflects, who recently extended his contract with his team Visma | Lease a Bike until 2029, looking back on 2025. "Ever since I joined the team, I have noticed the great support and feel the best backing from everyone in the squad. I believe this team offers me the best opportunities to keep growing and become an even better rider."
"I hope to reach the same level as last season again, and preferably even push to a higher level," the rider continues ambitiously. "From there, I hope to increasingly make my mark in the bigger races, where I can hopefully play a meaningful role."
After having already experienced Paris-Roubaix last year, the lightning-fast Brennan will once again start in several major spring classics this spring. "This year, I’m focusing on the big classics, such as Milan-San Remo, Paris-Roubaix, and the Tour of Flanders. I hope to play a significant role and gain experience in such tough races."

Discovery ride in the Vuelta
Besides the spring classics, a debut in a Grand Tour is normally on the schedule later this year. Brennan will – alongside riders like Wout van Aert – make his appearance in the Vuelta a España. "If all goes well, I will make my Grand Tour debut in the Vuelta. I’m really looking forward to it and curious to see how I will handle it."
The fact that he gets to contest many big races this year excites Brennan. "It’s amazing to start in several major classics, but I’m especially looking forward to the Vuelta. Racing for three weeks will be tough, and I don’t yet know how my body will respond, but with good preparation and a strong team, I hope to achieve a lot."
