After leaving Jayco AlUla earlier this year, Matthew White has surfaced at Movistar, which is undergoing a restructuring. The Australian, together with Chente García Acosta, will head 'The Racing Department' and, as chief directeur sportif, will focus on the riders.
Interestingly, White left Jayco AlUla in May precisely due to a restructuring. He had served the Australian team for over fourteen years as Director of High Performance & Racing. After his departure, he went silent.
At Movistar, White will lead one of the four new departments. In addition to a Racing Department, there will also be a Performance Department, Health Department, and Riders Department. Sebastián Unzué will oversee all four new divisions as Head of Sports at the team.
"After more than fifteen years as a directeur sportif, I am ready for this new chapter," White said in the press release. "I want to contribute to the team's success with my experience and drive. I have always deeply respected Movistar, and being part of this team from the inside now motivates me enormously."
