Mattias Skjelmose next leader to skip Paris-Nice

Mattias Skjelmose will not start Paris-Nice on Sunday after all. The 25-year-old Danish rider from Lidl-Trek is dealing with a tendon inflammation in his wrist and has to skip the race.

At Lidl-Trek, Juan Ayuso is now the sole team leader. It is currently unknown when Skjelmose will return to racing. The next race on the Dane’s schedule is the Tour of the Basque Country in early April.

Skjelmose is not the first favorite to withdraw from Paris-Nice. Earlier in the day, it was also announced that Joao Almeida and Max Poole will not be starting the ‘Race to the Sun.’
