More than a year after crash, Bpost supports Remco Evenepoel's youth academy

Remco Evenepoel and Bpost are entering into an even closer partnership. Just over a year after the Belgian was hit by a Bpost delivery van during training, the postal company is becoming a co-title sponsor of the REV Academy, the talent development project led by the Belgian cycling star.

In December 2024, Evenepoel was again involved in a collision with a Bpost vehicle after he collided with an opening door during a training ride. The damage was significant: the double Olympic champion suffered multiple bone fractures, was sidelined for a long time, and experienced a disrupted preparation for his cycling season.

However, this also marked the beginning of an unexpected collaboration. "We turned something negative into something very beautiful and positive," Patrick Evenepoel – Remco’s father – said in an interview with Sporza. "Last year, together with Bpost, we launched the 'Remco Reflex'. Afterward, Bpost asked if they could do more for the REV Academy. And that’s how this great partnership came about."

No guilt feelings
Specifically, this means that from this season onward, Bpost is a co-title sponsor of the cycling school. "There is certainly no guilt involved. After that accident, Bpost got to know our project and fully supports it. We want to get kids off the streets in Brussels so they can get to know cycling. With our project, we want to give these kids opportunities."

"Bpost will be responsible for the safety of the kids on their bikes by, for example, helping design high-visibility vests. [...] Remco is also very closely involved with the REV Academy. He is in all the WhatsApp groups and is in weekly contact with all our riders and staff."
