Days after the news broke that the UCI has provisionally suspended Oier Lazkano due to irregularities in his biological passport in 2022, 2023 and 2024, Movistar—the team the Spaniard rode for during that period—wants to clarify a few points.
Last winter, Lazkano transferred to Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, but his biggest results came with the Spanish WorldTeam. According to the team’s management, they were only informed of the delicate situation yesterday afternoon, on October 30, 2025.
Secondly, the team emphasizes that during the three seasons Lazkano raced for Movistar, all controls—both by various national and international organizations, as well as internal team tests—yielded negative results.
"On this basis, it was materially impossible to know or even suspect any irregularity like the one now at the center of the procedure initiated by the UCI," they state.
The team also reiterates that it "is unwaveringly committed to a clean and transparent sport with absolute determination. To this end, we will double all the efforts, controls, and measures we have promoted so far."
