Movistar withdraws Cian Uijtdebroeks from Valencia tour as a precaution
Don’t look for Cian Uijtdebroeks in the fourth stage of the Vuelta Comunitat Valenciana 2026. The 22-year-old Belgian from Movistar crashed in the third stage, was injured, and finished more than ten minutes behind stage winner AJ August. Hospital examinations showed no fractures, but Uijtdebroeks will still abandon the race.
Movistar is pulling him out of the race as a precaution. According to team sources, the Belgian was suffering from severe wrist pain. His crash happened out of camera view, and he was only briefly seen after crossing the finish line. According to Sporza, he mentioned quickly that he felt something in his hand before disappearing into the team bus. Shortly after, he reappeared with his forearm heavily wrapped.
He then underwent further tests at the hospital, which confirmed no fractures. Nevertheless, Uijtdebroeks will leave the race. His next scheduled race is Paris-Nice, which starts in just under a month.
