Niklas Behrens had to leave Visma | Lease a Bike training camp early

A part of the Visma | Lease a Bike team is currently staying in southern Spain for a training camp. Among them is Niklas Behrens, but the young German had to return home earlier than expected.

A crash during one of his training rides spoiled the plans. "I had to leave the guys (referring to his teammates) a bit earlier than expected due to a fall. However, I will be back soon. See you all shortly," the 22-year-old rider shared on Instagram.

Behrens—who became U23 World Champion in 2024—is in his second year with Visma | Lease a Bike. In his debut season, he raced 47 days and sprinted to several podium finishes in the Tour of Slovakia, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. For example, part of his spring season was lost due to a clavicle fracture sustained during the UAE Tour.

Earlier this month, Behrens shared on Instagram what a day at altitude looks like. Because the roads in the Spanish mountains were long covered with thick snow, the Visma | Lease a Bike riders had no choice but to train indoors on their turbo trainers. The weather has since cleared up significantly.
