Remco Evenepoel adds two races to schedule at the last minute
Remco Evenepoel was originally only supposed to race in the Trofeo Ses Salines (January 29) this week, but at the last moment he decided to add two more Challenge Mallorca races to his schedule. "Now that I'm here anyway, I might as well race a bit more," Sporza quotes him saying.
So, Evenepoel will not only compete in Thursday’s 26-kilometer team time trial, but also in the Trofeo Serra Tramuntana (Friday) and the Trofeo Andratx-Pollença on Saturday.
"That wasn’t the plan, but the weather forecasts look good. And now that I'm here anyway, I might as well race more than just a 25-minute team time trial," he explains.
Race rhythm
This gives Evenepoel a chance to better test his form. "That is certainly the intention. I’m the type of rider who improves through racing. The course here should suit me: up and down and always a bit punchy."
"On Saturday (referring to the Trofeo Andratx-Pollença, ed.) there’s also that Puig Major, a long climb. So I find a bit of everything here, and I hope to get answers to how my winter has gone."
