Sarah Gigante Forced to End 2025 Season Due to Serious Injury

Sarah Gigante will not be racing for the rest of the season. The 24-year-old Australian from AG Insurance-Soudal broke her thigh bone during training. She had set goals for the World Championships and the Italian autumn classics, but the third-place finisher of the Giro d'Italia and sixth in the Tour de France Femmes will have to cross those off her calendar.

On Instagram, she shares a photo from her hospital bed. "I’m super disappointed that I broke my thigh during training on Thursday (ouch!), but the surgery went very well and I’m already counting down the days until I can finally get back on the bike. I was really looking forward to hopefully representing Australia at the hilly World Championships in Rwanda and finishing my season in Italy. Luckily, the four races I did compete in this year were a success..."
