Stage three of the Ruta del Sol can go either way
In the Ruta del Sol, we don’t immediately see a stage where the general classification will be shaken up, but the third stage might offer the most potential for drama among the GC contenders. Or will a different race scenario unfold? WielerFlits takes a look ahead!
Route
The third stage is a toss-up. Because there aren’t many opportunities for strong climbers and punchers in this Ruta del Sol, this could well turn into a day that decides the overall standings. The finale lends itself to that, although the two climbs in the last forty kilometers aren’t the toughest.
The finish in Lopera is arguably a different story. The last 250 meters rise noticeably, favoring a rider with a lot of power in their legs. The question is: will a solo rider make it here?
