Cycling is an individual sport, but without a team you won’t get far. A team with three world-class riders wins more often than a team with ten 'average' riders. That’s why we introduce the Cyclingflash Team Rankings: for all disciplines, and both men and women.
Every rider counts, but we don’t just take an average. The top riders in a team carry more weight than the domestiques. Makes sense: Tadej Pogačar elevates UAE Emirates XRG to a higher level than the eighth rider on the selection. The foundation is always the individual rating. That daily score is the base on which we build the teams. No individual strength = no team strength.
An example:
Team A has five riders with ratings 950, 940, 930, 700, and 500.
Team B has five riders with ratings 820, 815, 810, 805, and 800.
A simple average puts the teams close together: Team A (rating 804) and Team B (rating 810). But in practice, Team A’s three top riders decide the race. Team B can compete as a collective, but lacks the level to really dominate. Our method therefore gives more weight to the strongest riders. This creates a fairer picture of a team’s true strength.

Cyclingflash Team Rankings show how strong a team is right now, based on the current strength of their riders. Top teams have around 10,000 points.
Cyclingflash 365 Team Rankings look back 365 days and reward teams that showed the best performances over the past year. Here, top teams have about 20,000 points.
Teams are constantly changing. A team leader switching teams immediately raises his new team and drops the old one. Mid-season transfers have an instant effect on the Cyclingflash Team Rankings. This way, you see real time how the peloton shifts.
Teams are more than the sum of their riders, but the top riders do determine the race. By having them count more heavily, the Cyclingflash Team Rankings give a fair picture of which teams are strongest. In all disciplines. For men and women.
