Kim Le Court scored a double victory on Wednesday in the Tour de France Femmes, but the Mauritian told WielerFlits afterward that she was feeling far from well. She was, in fact, menstruating. At her team AG Insurance-Soudal, they do everything possible to limit performance loss during that time of the month. For example, they use special mattresses, Justine Ghekiere explained on Wednesday at Sporza.
"From the moment I start my period, my temperature rises. Now we have special mattresses to lower the core temperature and help me sleep well. That really helps," said Ghekiere, who has seen her team make huge strides in professionalism over the past few years. "This is my third year here. I can honestly say it’s really approaching perfection now. I can’t point to anything that’s not going smoothly. Everything runs perfectly. And I think you can also see that in the results."
After her stage victory on Wednesday, Le Court said her body is currently 'tiring faster than usual' because of her menstruation. "That's something women have to go through. I had to fight, and the team did the same; I’m not going to give up," she said.
