Tadej Pogacar brought not only the yellow jersey but also the polka dot jersey to Paris in this Tour de France. This is the third time he has won both the mountains classification and the general classification. No one has ever achieved that before.
The polka dot jersey was only introduced in the Tour de France in 1975, but the French race has featured a mountains classification since 1933. Twelve times this classification was won by the same rider who also claimed the general classification that year. Eight riders have managed this double.
Fausto Coppi was the first to achieve this twice: he did so in 1949 and 1952. Later, Eddy Merckx matched this feat in 1969 and 1970, but winning the mountains classification and the overall title three times in the same year has so far eluded everyone. Now, however, Tadej Pogacar has succeeded. In 2020, 2021, and 2025, he stood on the podium in Paris wearing both the polka dot jersey and the yellow jersey.
