Unbelievable: reckless man on city bike terrifies riders

Road cycling: it is and remains a dangerous sport. If it's not because the riders are charging at high speed into a corner or hurtling down a descent with reckless abandon, then it's because a spectator (or in this case: an idiot) on a city bike endangers the race.

This happened last Sunday in the final kilometers of the GP La Marseillaise. This race traditionally kicks off the French cycling season, but the finale was marred by a reckless act by a man on a city bike.

The person in question suddenly rode just ahead of the leaders Andrea Mifsud, Louis Hardouin, and Axel Mariault, with about five kilometers to go. The man seemed to be enjoying himself, but caused a life-threatening situation. Fortunately, it ended without serious incident, and the riders were able to prepare for the sprint finish.

Watch the dangerous situation here:

In this sprint, Bryan Coquard proved the fastest in the pack. The experienced veteran from Cofidis beat Steffen De Schuyteneer (Lotto-Intermarché) and Alex Molenaar (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) to secure his first victory of 2026.
