The team pursuits were also on the schedule at the Track Cycling World Championships on Friday night, and as expected, the Danish men's team delivered a strong performance. Among the women, the Italians dominated.
In that Danish team, Niklas Larsen was the most experienced rider. After several years focused entirely on track cycling, he is currently competing in Santiago at what is likely his last major track event before switching to the road with Unibet Tietema Rockets starting in 2026. Earlier this year, he already finished third in the Tour of Denmark, attracting interest from many road teams.
The 23-year-olds Tobias Aagaard Hansen and Frederik Rodenberg Madsen, along with 27-year-old Rasmus Søjberg Pedersen, were the other Danes who clinched victory, winning the title for the second year in a row.

Among the women, it was the Italians Martina Alzini (28), Vittoria Guazzini (24), Martina Fidanza (25), and the very young Federica Venturelli (20) who outclassed the Germans in the final. Notably, the Belgian women Hélène Hesters, Katrijn De Clercq, Marith Vanhove, and Luca Vierstraete made it to the small final. However, bronze proved out of reach against the strong British squad.
Earlier in the day, Hesters also impressed in the elimination race, where she secured bronze behind Ireland’s Lara Gillespie and Britain’s Kate Archibald. Dutch rider Lisa van Belle (21) did not make an impact in that discipline.
