According to several Belgian media outlets, Alexander Kamp is one of the victims of the upcoming merger between his current team Intermarché-Wanty and Lotto, but the 31-year-old Dane has since signed with another outfit: Uno-X Mobility.
Kamp still had a running contract with Intermarché-Wanty until the end of 2026, but the puncheur reportedly was no longer part of the merger plans with the Lotto team. Intermarché-Wanty seemed likely to have to pay out Kamp’s ongoing contract, but that is no longer necessary.
Uno-X Mobility has now announced the 30-something as a new signing. Kamp has signed for one season and will race alongside the likes of Tobias Halland Johannessen, Jonas Abrahamsen, and Magnus Cort next year. “This is a fantastic opportunity for me, but also for the team,” Kamp said with a smile. “I’m looking forward to delivering strong results in 2026.”
“The team has really made huge strides and now is a consistent presence at the highest level, but the squad still holds onto its Norwegian-Danish identity. That is incredibly cool and I’m excited to be part of that soon.”
From continental level to top-5 in the Amstel
Kamp began his career serving a number of continental teams, but managed to catch the eye of Trek-Segafredo with promising results and victories. After three seasons on American payrolls, Kamp moved to Tudor Pro Cycling and then Intermarché-Wanty.
His palmarès currently features five professional wins. Kamp was Danish road champion in 2016 and 2022, won stages in the Tour of Norway and the now-defunct Tour de Yorkshire, and secured the overall victory at the 2023 Région Pays de la Loire Tour. Other notable results include third place in the Bretagne Classic and fifth place in the Amstel Gold Race.
