Clarity on Remco Evenepoel’s race schedule for 2026 is still awaited, but the new signing of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe will likely participate in Milan-San Remo and the Tour of Flanders for the first time next year. Former cyclist Dirk De Wolf sincerely hopes that Evenepoel will contest these classics.
Will we see Remco Evenepoel in the Tour of Flanders for the first time next spring? It’s quite possible. The Olympic champion has sent two draft race programs to the management of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe. One is a ‘classics program’ focusing on one-day races and the Tour de France, the other a combination of the Giro d’Italia and the Tour.
According to information from Het Laatste Nieuws, “the flirtation with the Tour of Flanders is growing stronger in the mind of Evenepoel.” And not only that: La Gazzetta dello Sport had already reported earlier that there is a very high chance that Evenepoel will be seen racing Milan-San Remo for the first time next year.

De Wolf is certain: with his qualities, Evenepoel is capable of shining in the Tour of Flanders. "Especially the final sixty kilometres. Twice the Oude Kwaremont, twice the Paterberg, the Koppenberg: that finale is incredibly tough. [...] Remco can handle that. Okay, it’s cobblestones, but it’s also uphill. He can use his power, and his physique works in his favor," the Belgian analyst told Het Nieuwsblad.
Great learning experience
"I would recommend that he races both Milan-San Remo and the Tour of Flanders," continued the winner of Liège-Bastogne-Liège 1992. "He won’t stay 25 forever. If the chance to win presents itself, you have to grab it. Waiting until you are 33 is too late. And Pogacar didn’t win the Tour of Flanders on his first attempt either. It would be a valuable learning experience for Remco either way."
However, a possible Giro d'Italia participation could complicate matters. "I would choose the classics and the Tour," De Wolf stated firmly. "For example, you could skip Brabantse Pijl and Amstel Gold Race and still ride Milan-San Remo and the Tour of Flanders. I would really advise him to do that. So if we can put a little pressure on him this way, gladly," he concluded with a smile.
