Wout van Aert sees 'deceptive' course in Loenhout: "Requires more technique"
Wout van Aert is still searching for his first win of the cyclocross season after four races. In Loenhout, he gets another chance, although he first has to face a certain Mathieu van der Poel.
Where the world champion didn’t race on Sunday in Dendermonde, Van Aert did make an appearance. How do his legs feel now? "I feel well recovered, but yesterday I also felt ready, so we’ll see how the race unfolds," he said in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad and Sporza.
"Do I still have my aggression? That sounds a bit strange, but people who ride bikes know what I mean," Van Aert replied with a smile. "I mainly need to be ready to sprint into every corner. I want to do better than yesterday."
How does the Visma | Lease a Bike rider view the Loenhout course? "In certain sections it’s quite tricky. The air is more humid than yesterday, and as a result it’s very slippery."
"The speed will definitely be high, but it’s a bit harder to ride in each other’s wheels here. It requires a bit more technical skill than yesterday."
