Stage 2 Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux - Le Puy-en-Velay (237.3km)

We can expect fireworks between the general classification contenders right from the opening stage, and stage two could also provide plenty of action. There may be fewer elevation gains on the schedule and the climbs are less demanding, but the final thirty kilometers into Le Puy-en-Velay still feature two climbs that should not be underestimated.

Before that, the peloton will pass over the Côte de la Croix de la Cave (2.6 km at 4.5%) and the fairly long Col Robert Marchand (10.9 km at 4.4%), though these climbs are too far from the finish to cause major damage.

No, any decisive attacks will most likely come on the slopes of the Côte des Baraques (4.2 km at 6.6%) or the Côte de Saint-Vidal (2 km at 7.4%), two fairly challenging climbs on the road to the finish in Le Puy-en-Velay. The Baraques summit comes just over thirty kilometers from the finish, while after the Saint-Vidal climb there are still twelve kilometers remaining, mostly on descending roads.
