Stage 4 Emmen - Col du Vam (Wijster) (158.3km)
The fourth stage of the Tour of Holland is also a hilly one—yes, it really is possible in the Netherlands. Over 157 kilometers, the riders go from Emmen to the VAM-berg, though they will spend much of the day racing in its surroundings.
Just before 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, the start will be given at the Marktplein in Emmen, after which the peloton heads west toward the VAM-berg. There, no fewer than eleven ascents await, including two large circuits that also feature the “Roof of Drenthe.” In the final 40 kilometers, the riders face five shorter laps of eight kilometers each around the VAM-berg.
After the final climb of the VAM-berg, a fast run-in to the finish awaits, including a downhill stretch. Riders who are dropped there still have a chance to regain contact and finish in the right group.
